Television Widgets – TV Widgets

Television widgets (TV Widgets) are independent software applications that can be added to TV systems to provide new features and services. Some types of TV widgets include news widgets, weather widgets, and widgets that display messages from social groups (such as Facebook). These widgets may process information that can be display on or within the video display.

TV widgets can dramatically change how TV viewers interact with television services. They can be manually started by the user or they can be automatically started by the viewing device or TV broadcasting system.

TV widget programs may be transferred and loaded into set top boxes - STBs or web capable televisions without any required interaction from the viewer. TV widget programs may be written in programming languages such as HTML, Javascript, and use protocols such as eBIF.
