Customer Downgrades in Cable TV Subscription Services

According to TDG research, a growing percentage of TV viewers (about 18%) are starting to downgrade their paid TV subscriptions citing the key reason for their downgrading is cost cutting (reducing cable bills). However, only a small percentage will actually disconnect their service (8%). The research also showed that 48% of Cable subscribers are not likely to changes services and 34% were neutral to change.

There is also a growing number of broadband connections do not subscribe to paid TV (approximately 6% to 10%). This number has been doubling over the past 3 to 4 years as some people are using alternative media such as watching videos on the Internet, rending DVDs, and over the top television (OTT).
