Rich TV Metadata–More than Just Titles and Actors

TV program descriptive information is becoming more important as the number of broadcasters and available programs are increasing. At the IBC show, Achim Kirchman from GraceNote explained to me that video and music metadata can be used by recommendation engines and viewers to help them navigate through a growing mix of content. Having access to rich TV metadata can help the broadcaster to provide and recommend new content.
Getting a large amount of TV metadata can be challenging. Metadata sources can include the content owners (the most knowledgeable about the content), content experts (for categorization), content analysis (machine listening), and from community members.
