Getting Two HD TV Channels on One RF Broadcast Channel
A key way that TV broadcasters can increase their revenue is by increasing the number of channels they transmit on their existing RF channels. During my interview with Grass Valley at the NAB 2010 trade show, they shared with me that they have developed a way to send two high definition TV channels on an existing 6 MHz wide TV broadcast channel. They can do this in MPEG-2 format which simplifies the use of standard MPEG equipment.
