TV Widget Based Advertising
TV Widgets can be used as a tool for advertisers to reach consumers directly on their televisions. Dean Kashlan of AcumenLink explained to me during the NAB 2010 trade show that the middleware from Nordija (pronounced as Nor’di’ya) can be used to develop widgets that allow hotels, multiple dwelling units, and casinos to get promotional messages to TV viewers. Broadcasters and advertisers can customize TV Widgets to match the specific needs and interests of their targeted viewers. Nordija also has a pool of TV Widgets (a Widget Consortium) that allow broadcasters to share the use of TV Widgets.
