Reliable Internet TV Transmission
Providing television services to many viewers which are located over long distances can be a key challenge for Over the Top (OTT) TV broadcasters. At the OTTCon trade show, Scott Brown explained that his company Octoshape has developed packet transmission technology that provides flexible and dynamically changing connection paths to media devices that enables it to provide more reliable services at greater distances using less bandwidth. Some of the key capabilities of the system include adaptive proximity detection (discovery and selection of the closest media server), adaptive path (dynamically choosing servers with better connections), and a packet transmission technology that uses UDP to provide reliable Internet TV broadcast connections even on connections with varying amounts of available bandwidth.
