Improving Archive Material with Detail Enhancement
During video conversion, it is important to strip the noise without damaging the picture quality. At IBC, Tim Brooksbank from Calibre explained that detail enhancement is becoming more cost effective and is possible during post-production or live streaming. Processes for detail enhancement use post-production studio grade image processing algorithms for scaling film and video noise reduction, as well as MPEG artifact reduction and audio time-line correction to maintain lip synch. Archive material conversion is ideal for several applications, such as regional TV, and is also useful for cleaning up more modern content.
