Picture Quality Measurement Tools for Broadcasters
Broadcasters need to check their video artifacts for ringing, blocking, and blurring to ensure they are delivering high quality video to their customers. At IBC, Vukota Pekovic from RT-RK said that picture quality measurement takes a reference picture and compares what is being broadcasted to predetermined standards by taking physical measurements. Picture quality measurement offers real-time monitoring and warning and tracking of measured results of video sequences. In addition to cable TV and internet, quality assessment also checks mobile telephony and wireless broadcast material and handles all analogue and SD/HD video formats. The system also provides video quality assessment for development of algorithms in video enhancement, as well remote monitoring with selective video failure storage database.
