Converting Compliance Recording Systems to Provide New Revenue Producing Services

While compliance recording is a cost burden to some TV broadcasters, there are ways to convert compliance recording systems to provide revenue producing services. At the IBC trade show, Jens Ringlstetter from Artec explained that operators can change compliance cost center into a profit center by creating a knowledge base for their content and using tools to repurpose content. A key to the process is to perform media analysis and create a knowledge base that allows the operator to quickly find and repurpose content. This can include creating a media monitoring service using metadata information included in EPGs, programs, and subtitles. Comments and keywords should also be able to be content. This information can be used to create a library of video content which can be used with a video production system to enhance live broadcasts and to create other programs.
