New Home Multimedia Network Requirements – More Bandwidth Required!
Home Media Networks need to adapt to the new services being used by consumers. Anton Monk from Entropic explained to me during the TelecoTV trade show that some of the new home multimedia needs include multiroom DVR, personal gaming, personal content management, wireless extension, and internet TV (OTT). The combination of these new needs results in a dramatic increase of data transfer on home networks. Some of new home network communication requirements include a mix of rapid response services (such as gaming) and peak bandwidth requirements (mutliroom DVR).
