Reducing Access Network Bandwidth Usage by Caching Video Content
Access providers can dramatically reduce the amount of bandwidth usage by caching video content. Tom Rosenstein from Verivue explained to me that access provider network bandwidth is dramatically increasing due to video streaming services. A high percentage of the bandwidth usage can be reduced by deploying video caching servers at strategic locations within the network. This can allow the access provider to delay investment in access network upgrades and use the recovered bandwidth for other revenue producing services.
