TV broadcasters can use remote management systems to reduce operational and to provide for new revenue producing services. At the TelcoTV trade show, Steve Gorretta from Clear Access explained to me that the initial reason why TV broadcasters buy remote management solutions is to reduce operational costs. Remote management allows the TV broadcasters to identify devices, configurations, and performance that can more quickly solve problems and eliminate expensive technician truck rolls. After some time, TV broadcasters realize that remote management can be used to create services that become revenue producing services. Using industry standard TR-069 gateways, TV broadcasters can setup and control devices such as video camera (for surveillance services), appliances (for energy management), media management, and other services.
