Providing Better HD Encoding Quality at Low Bit Rates (below 5 Mbps) and with Lower Costs
Choosing the right media encoder can mean the difference between happy customers and trouble calls. Harlan McGhan from Telarity explained to me at the TelcoTV show that while media decoding is defined by industry standards, the encoding process can dramatically vary. The Telarity encoder uses 5 video processor cores that can independently operate but can interact with each other providing over 50 billion operations per second. Because the encoding software is not directly embedded in the core, it is field upgradable via a software download. The encoding software is fully customizable to help meet specialized encoding requirements allow for the rapid development of encoders for specialized needs.
