Integrating Linear and On Demand TV Production Broadcast Planning and Workflow Systems
TV broadcasters are rapidly changing their systems to launch many new channels and add on-demand services. Emmanuel Muller from Media GeniX explained to me at the IPTV World show that TV broadcasters need to integrate media scheduling across multiple platforms (cross-platform). It is also essential for broadcast systems to reduce media production time while decreasing operation costs (automating processes). Some of the key features needed in integrated workflow systems include multi-user collaboration, simplified service creation, asset management, and real-time financial reporting. A key part of the integrated system is the capability for real-time data exchange with rights management and to simplify the providing of cross-media services by exchanging information with web servers. To enable real time services, workflow systems should be transaction based and allow active service changes (such as on demand viewing selections and events) to automatically update user screens in real-time.
