Pre-Integrated IPTV and Internet TV System Speeds up Time to Market
Upgrading broadcast platforms to include IPTV and Internet TV distribution is important to most TV system operators. Noureddine Hamdane from ViAccess explained to me at the IPTV World show that TV broadcasters need integrated systems that allows the operator to manage assets across multiple distribution platforms and many types of viewing devices. This involves integrating IPTV, CAS, DRM, and TV middleware. If the systems are pre-integrated, this allows the TV broadcaster to more rapidly rollout new services including web TV, catch-up TV, and hybrid TV services. An integrated system that uses an open architecture is TV broadcasters to also integrate with 3rd party solutions such as subscriber user interface (SUI). This flexibility can allow broadcasters to differentiate their services which can be critical on a multi-solution marketplace.
