Organizing Content with Playlist Management
Broadcasters and content providers need to be able to manage where playlists are scheduled for playout at specific times on certain channels. At IBC, Duncan Potter from Edgeware mentioned that playlist management allows for the insertion of ads, or any content, anywhere within a file. After a playlist has been defined, it can be used for on demand viewing as well as multicast playout. This is important for replacing ads, whether it is to provide personalized ads or replace outdated content, and insure that users are actually watching the ads. The Edgeware solution, Origin, has four modules including monitoring, content management, configuration and playlist/playout management that may be used together or individually.
