Wire Replacement Solutions for Set Top Box Users
Consumers are looking for ways to cut the clutter, including the option to replace cords with wireless connectivity. At IBC, Jim Lomax of AirTies mentioned that wire replacement solutions make it possible for users to access multicast video from Live TV channels, Video-on-Demand, IPTV and OTT services without connecting the set top box to an Ethernet cable. With built in Wi-Fi 802.11n 2x2MIMO connectivity, video and audio transmission occurs over a wireless Internet gateway over Wi-Fi rather than an Ethernet cable. For an example, Two AirTies can be combined to create a wireless bridge between two devices that have Ethernet ports.
