How Telephone Companies Can Get to 100 Mbps per Customer

Telephone companies are facing extreme pressure to increase broadband data rates for customers while facing a cash flow crisis. Kevin Morgan and Kurt Raaflaub from Adtran explained to me at the TelcoVision trade show that telephone companies can gradually increase their broadband service capacity toward the 100 Mbps ultra broadband goal AND be able to extend the reach of high-speed services. By installing Optical Network Edge (ONE) devices to their optical plant as it gradually expands, telcos can provide a mixture of new ultra broaband 100 Mbps VDSL services along with other high-speed Ethernet services.
